About

I have found that when I start being proactive (“showing up”) and stop limiting myself and others (including God), amazing things happen.

And a big part of that relates to how I spend, save, share, and invest my dollars.

I didn’t used to think about this at all. I pretty much let other people run my show, make my decisions, lead my life… and typically spend my money. I had good reasons in mind – read as ‘meant well’ – but what came of that was usually resentment and frustration. And no one likes to live with those characteristics.

But isn’t it fun to be carefree? To not worry about money and just spend freely?

For me, I seek security and stability. ‘Spending in the name of fun’ used to lure me in like bait on a hook – intriguing and dangerous. Then I found out how deep that well can be. I’ve since learned the freedom, joy, and peace of mind that come from being out of debt and able to weather life’s storms.

Most of this growth starts with internal perspective changes. Then it’s followed by actions similar to working out new muscles. I love the ‘spending freezes’ I insitute now and then. Forcing myself to use or eat what I already own, and watching my bank account put on weight in the process, is rather adventurous and thoroughly rewarding.

I’m a work in progress, and some of my journey may resonate with yours. I hope you find something useful here.

Sincerely,

Alicia
